Capital Region’s last store, along with others, will be sold this month

The last Ritz Camera store in the Capital Region and hundreds of Ritz stores nationwide will be auctioned off later this month after the company failed in an effort to reorganize in bankruptcy court.

Ritz filed a Chapter 11 petition in Delaware bankruptcy court last February and said it would close 300 of its 800 stores in April.

Auctioning the remaining stores and their leases will take place beginning July 20, with a hearing set for July 23.

Ritz operated camera departments in the two area Boscov’s department stores, in Colonie and Clifton Park, but those have closed. (more…)
